Rivierzicht Resort is located just outside of Roberton (approximately 13 kms). It is located on a working vinyard and orchard farm on the banks of the Breede River. It is located approximately 160 kms from Cape Town. You can access Robertson from either the N1 (154kms from Cape Town and a drive of approximately 1h45m) or via the N2 and Stormsrivier (188kms from Cape Town and a drive of appriximately 2h15m).
There are a total of 15 campsites. The resort is very big and the campsites are large (approximately 12x25m) and most are arranged along the banks of the Breede river. All the sites are flat and grassed. Each site is clearly demarcated and the sites are separated by a row of trees. There are also additional trees offering plenty of shade. Each site also has a wooden structure with shade netting over the top for additional shade. But, please mind your head if you are tall, as you will most likely be bumping your head (speaking from experience here).
Each campsite has its own electricity connection for a standard three pronged plug. The plug points are located close at hand, so extension cords are not required.
The ablution facilities consist of 4 unisex bathrooms each with a toilet, a basins and a shower. Each bathroom is large and spacious. The hot water in each bathroom is gas generated and always available. The ablutions are cleaned on a daily basis. There is always soap, toilet paper and air freshener on hand in each bathroom. There are also three smaller bathrooms with just a toilet and a basin alongside the ablution block.
There is a basin and a tap (river water) on each campsite for washing your dishes. However, there is no hot water, and no alternative dish washing facilities in the campsite, so when we camped here, we used our own basin with boiled water.
Each site has its own built in barrel braai. Be sure to bring your own braai grid. Wood can be purchased on site.
Each site has it's own dustbin, which is cleaned out on a regular basis.
The campsites are located either on or close to the river.
The river is great for swimming and/or cooling off on a hot sunny day. The water is however often murky and brown, which can be off-putting for some.
This is a very large, spaced out resort, so let your kids bring their bikes and there is ample space for running and ball games.
There is an "honesty bar' at the resort where you can buy wood, ice and big bottles of drinking water.
Remember to bring your won canoes and flotation devices.
The N1 and N2/Stormsriver road are tarred all the way to Robertson. From the turnoff, you will be directed onto a gravel road for approximately 3kms, which is in a good condition.
This campsite is located in the beautiful Breede River Valley area, so there is a lot to explore beyond the resort. We recommend a drive around this Valley for a chance to take in the spectacular natural beauty of the area and the meet the very friendly and accommodating people.

We have been to this resort twice and absolutely love the large sites and the direct river frontage. The men thoroughly enjoy the fishing and regularly caught bass here. On our previous visit, the men had some bad luck with their fishing until we discovered a resident otter that would chase the fish away during the day and raid the campsite at night. This little creature was nowhere to be seen when we went camping there in December 2017. There are also two very large dogs which reside on the farm. They are however very people and pet friendly. This is one of our favorite campsites.
