Kleine Paradys – Piketberg

Kleine Paradys campsite is located on the Broodkraal farm in Piketberg, close to the town of Koringsberg.  on the banks of the Berg River.  The campsite is located 130 kms from Cape Town and the drive will take you approximately 1h40m.  Access is from the N7 and then on towards and through the town of Koningsberg.  After the town, the road becomes dirt and the camp site is located approximately 17 kms along this road.

The camp site has a very interesting layout.  There is a very large camp site which can accommodate up to 2 large caravans and a smaller campsite that can accommodate a caravan and a tent.  Both camp sites have access to their own ablution facilities.  These camping sites are on concrete slabs, surrounded by grass,  ideal for caravans.  The sites are raised and steps lead down to a small garden with trees and a grass patch surrounded by pebbles.  There is a built in braai facility here as well as a small concrete table and benches.
There are also additional campsites arranged along the road. that borders onto the river.  Here campers can choose from a number of sites under tall trees on the edge of the river, or under a shade cloth awning on the opposite side of the road. The sites closest to the river are slightly sloped, while those opposite the road are flat.  Most sites are grassed and have shade either from the trees or from the shade cloth awnings.

There are electricity connections on each site.

The ablution facilities are provided for each campsite and you are issued with a key on arrival.  The ablutions are very new and modern, each with a toilet, basin and shower.  The hot water to the bathrooms is supplied by solar panels and the hot water can become scare on cloudy days.   The ablutions are always kept neat and clean.

Each site has its own built in braai, but be sure to bring your braai grid.  Wood can be purchased at the on-site shop.

Bins are provided on the campsites.

Washing up
There is a small washing up basin at the ablution facilities.

There is a farm stall on-site for your essentials
There are kayaks available for the campers to use.

Road conditions
The N7 is tarred and the road into Koningsberg is also tarred.  Once through the town, the road becomes dirt, but is in a good condition.  The trip to the farm from the town is only 17 kms and easily manageable with a standard sedan.

This campsite looks to be very new and seems to have been established in 2017.  The layout of the sites is very appealing and well thought out with a classy touch to the braai area.  I think I need to contact this campsite and see what it has to offer.  It looks very promising.

Ann Moore commented on facebook: My husband and I took a drive out to have a look this afternoon and were very impressed.
It is still a work in progress but and very well thought out. Like shadenet where there isn’t tree shade, over half of the pool, over the little kids play area and even over your campsite!
    Well done Conrad.
